About Mountain Biking at CVHS:
CV Cycling was established in 2008 and was originally joined by Clark Magnet High School. For the first couple years, the two schools where known as Glendale Unified Composite. Together, the team was
unable to accomplish anything, which was expected for an infant team. But in 2013 (CV and Clark where no longer on the same team at this point), CVHS won both the Division 2 California State
Championships and the Division 2 SoCal League Finals. In 2014, the CV Team struggled to repeat their winnings of the previous season. The Team came in second place by a mere ONE POINT in the
Division 2 SoCal League Finals and came in fourth place at the California State Championships. In their 2015 season, the Team destroyed Divison 1 by a whopping 300 points in the SoCal League Finals,
although they didn't win all the races. The 2015 California State Championships seemed a promising win, but SoCal has yet to produce a Divison 1 winner in all of California, with CV coming in sixth place.
Mountain Biking is a fun, yet challenging sport. As a seventh period class at CVHS, students will have an extra class available to take during the day before practice starts. A lot of students ride bikes either to
school or just for fun or maybe even competitively, but our team is more about having fun while competing in races. Throughout the season, which is mostly second semester with core training during first semester,
there are five SoCal League races, and if you qualify, a CA State Championships race. We train on trails local to our area and are generally easier than the courses we race on.
